Joe Popielarczyk's 1995
Joe Popielarczyk from Buffalo, NY, USA owns a 1995 S4 in Silver, with a Tan Leather interior.
Model:
S4 Year: 1995 Colour: Silver Interior: Tan Leather Driving Style: Spirited when the roads allow... Miles per year: As many as possible... Owned Since: 30th August 2006 Purchase from: Dallas, TX Serviced at: JAE Lotus (Parts), Myself, and my mechanic Evan, who used to own it! Other Cars: 1991 Toyota MR2, 1990 Honda Civic (For slamming around town, and being the Lotus/MR2 parts carrier!) Previous Lotus': This is the first of hopefully a few! Why an Esprit: See below! Upgrades: Green Dot Cam Pulley, SS JAE Cat-Bypass Downpipe, 3" Aeroturbine Exhaust, K & N Filter, Porterfield R4S Pads (Front), EBC Yellows (Rear), Full Leatherique Int. Treatments, Black Carpet Set, PUK Esprit Spacers (20 MM Front, 35 MM Rear, an absolutely fantastic upgrade), And now planning on upgrading the battery to a small and light dry cell version, and relocating it for better balance.
Problems: Clutch went not long after I got the car, as did the fuel pump. Both all squared away. Currently having an issue with the lame ABS system, as well as the brakes in general. Hope to have that sorted shortly. Pretty sure it's master cylinder related, as the rotors and pads are all brand new, and it's freshly bled. Also decided to do a full C service as soon as I got the car. Cost a lot, but was well worth it. Also, as the engine was out, I pulled the fuel tanks, took them home, scuffed them clean, and had them painted in the hardcore Hippo-Liner. They were still in great shape, thankfully, so now they'll be timeless forever.
Info: The car is everything I've ever dreamed of. Gets looks more than any car I've ever been in. What's really funny is when people expect to see some yuppie driving it, and it's just some kid! Plus, the ladies love it, which makes my job a lot eaiser! It's a great compliment to my MR2, which I love equally. Please view my multiply site for more on my MR2 and Lotus.

Well, this is rather obvious to I'm sure everyone reading this. There is simply no better supercar ever built than the Lotus Esprit, when you consider all things, be it price, performance, asthetics, intangible uniqueness, etc. I've been obsessed with these cars since the age of 4 and swore that I'd get one by age 21.Happily, I was able to make purchase the day before my 22nd birthday. And what a purchase it was. Believe it or not, I first met this car in Buffalo, back in 1998. I was 14, and my mom and I were going go-karting, when out of nowhere this silver '95 Esprit blasted by us the other way. I immediatly grabbed the wheel of which my mom was driving, caused us to spin out in an intersection, and then proceeded to yell at my mom to follow him until he stopped.

Thankfully my mom loves these cars too, and understood my sincerity enough to follow him. As luck would have it, he pulled into a local bar, and I ran out and practically scared the hell out of him. I was so stoked to see one of these in person in my neighborhood. He was great too, allowing me to sit in it, check it out, and just share the overall enthusiasm. He gave me his shop # and told me to call him for a ride sometime.
Yes! Well, I'm happy to say we became great friends, still to this day. We had a lot of great rides in that car. It became the dream car for me, colour, trim, model, everything. But sadly, he sold it in the fall of 1999. I told him then I'd own that car one day...soooo...I did my best to keep tabs on where the car went, and when it went for sale.

This past summer (2006) I found it again...and I knew this was my chance. I flew my friend Evan down to Texas, where the car was for sale, with a check for the car, providing it checked out alright. He was pleased to see his old car in great shape still, gave the guy the check, and drove HIS old car back for ME! What a day that was. It's been amazing to actually acquire the exact car I've always wanted.
Update
These photos were taken in the Fall of 2006 with my friends Joe, and his 1984 Toyota Supra. They were taken in North Buffalo, where all the nice parks and museums are. Sadly the Lotus had a little mishap, blowing the fuel pump fuse a few times. An easy remedy, we found out later, but still made for an interesting and skeptical ride home...

These picturesof my MR2 were taken in May of 2006 at Beaver Island, about 10 minutes from Buffalo. It's a really nice place, close to home. Tried getting some shots on the beach, but the local park police colded me for doing so. Anyways, as they went away, I quickly got some shots from the lawn, near the water.

The MR2 is N/A, but highly modified, and cleaner than my Lotus. While I have obsessed about Lotus more than anything my whole life, the MR2 was always a second favorite, and a perfect car for me while I kept saving for the Esprit. It has been 5 years now owning my MR2, and I would not let it go for anything.
