The Lotus Esprit is one of Hollywoods A list super cars featuring in numerous Blockbusters from James Bond's underwater transport in "The Spy Who Loved Me" , Sharon Stone owning 2 and being chased along the Californian coast in "Basic Instinct", Richard Gere getting lost In Beverley Hills in "Pretty Woman." But Lotus missed it's opportunity to create Britain's super car Hollywood starlet in it's most glamorous guise, a convertible! Styled by PBB Designs, Just 7 of these fully developed well engineered conversions were produced in the decadent 80's. This particular example is based on the rare and desirable normally aspirated HC model and what makes it even more interesting is that it was owned by famed Lotus engineer Peter Chilvers who also was responsible for designing the windsurf board. He was the 2nd owner and commissioned the car to be converted, having covered much of the Esprits 56,000 miles he introduced his own additions to the cars design making it slightly more practical for U.K. driving such as re-introducing window frames and the full fold away hardtop.
